Ahhh, I love my digital camera. ok--I love all three of my digital camera's--ok--really 5 of them but I don't use 2 of them so they don't count. For me a great camera is the ultimate must have if you are involved in this industry. Quality photos are so important and can add so much to your digital art.
I thought I would share with you what kind of camera's I use and why I think they are great.
First and for-most I must say I am purely digital in my photo taking. I have two film cameras here in my office but both take terrible pictures and unfortunately were my source for photo taking until well after my kids were born. So basically I have gross, discolored photos in a box that all need to be scanned and retouched before I attempt to do anything long term with them. They are downright nasty. Bless my little boys--they are cute but the photos taking were terrible and the end result leaves a ton to be desired!
Ok--so Camera #1 : My Cannon Digital Rebel! LONG LIVE THE REBEL! This little baby is the ultimate for me. I am not a professional photographer yet capturing just the right light and just the right subject to photograph makes me feel like I could be doing this as a professional. I love the clarity of the photos , the color and the ease of using a complicated camera with auto settings or manual. So cool-- this is by far one of my most prized techno toys! Plan on spending around $1,500.00 for this little sweetheart!
Camera #2: The Casio Elixim. This baby was a treat from Picaboo that I no longer have possession of so I ordered one for myself. I needed to rest assured that I would always have this ultra compact, easy to use, inexpensive camera at my side. It records video , takes great photos and is "OH SO PORTABLE!" It fits in the front pocket of my jeans so I never ever miss a shot! This camera is one of the regular life "must haves!" It is relatively inexpensive coming in at around $299.00.
Camera #3: This is my Kodak EasyShare. I love this camera and I use it around the house but honestly I can get the same shots out of the Casio Elixim and it is about 1/4 the size. So while I have loved the ease of the Kodak Easy Share its bulky size makes the lack of portability a negative. I will use it until it dies but you won't see me out with it---just too big for the level of performance. (by the way, I don't remember what I paid for this camera but it wasn't much and until I got to experience the skinny Elixim I remember feeling pretty darn good about my Kodak!)
So, I thought I would post a pic. of the new camera that is on its way to my house--My guess is John is not going to be thrilled with its color! LOL! I got it at Staples and just so happened I had $30.00 in rewards money for a spending spree of the past (I buy all my photo paper and ink cartidges there!) and then had a lovely $30.00 off coupon I just got in the mail so I only paid $230.00 for it! Tell me that is not an awesome deal! (I think the last time I went in and had film rolls developed I spent over 200 bucks--Get the picture? :-)
Time to get out there and start snapping more photos!
Take care- Alicia
Random thought for the day: 1 time a month I go in for a 2 hour massage--You should try it out. My massage therapist schedules me 6 months out so I am assured to get the late appointments so I don't mess with my work schedule. The 2 hours allows me time to really relax and enjoy a chunk of "all about me time." Ain't nobody happy if momma ain't happy!
